Around ten years ago I purchased my first camera, took it home pointed it at my mum, who at the time was cooking a BBQ in the middle of winter, and I took her photo. It wasn’t the best photo but it caught a moment that I’ll never forget; my mum wrapped up in her coat laughing away at me as I fiddled around with my new toy. It was my mum – a beautiful photo I’ll cherish for years. My fascination with capturing moments was near instantaneous from this point on.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
WHY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
The thing that drew me to wedding photography was my love for street photography and photojournalism. I’m fascinated with telling a story and as much as I love taking a portrait, it’s the before and after that I’m often most interested in. When it comes to weddings there are so many of these before and after moments that make it so much fun and are the fabric to your wedding day story. Along with this is all those beautiful creative opportunities that allow you to play with light, obscure reality and capture the most wonderful landscapes to create more than a photograph but a piece of art. I love weddings, and I love to see the happiness it brings to people. It’s soppy I know but to me the love between people is a wonderful thing and I get so much from documenting this. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside some of the industries leading suppliers such as the award winning Lisa Alger of Essex wedding beauty and the award winning florist Lily & May and very proud to have been published on www.wantthatwedding.co.uk, www.blovedblog.com and www.yourperfectweddingphotographer.co.uk
MY APPROACH TO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
My main objective is to tell a story. I want to tell a beautifully documented story about your wedding day capturing all the moments that happen from the start of the day, right through to the dance floor shenanigans. My photojournalistic approach means I’ll do this unobtrusively and capture moments as they happen without getting involved in your day and dictating what needs to happen and when. Of course there are few formalities and group shots that i’ll happily guide you through, but essentially you won’t even know I’m there.
