Golden Hour couple shoot, with Muhit and Sedef at Bellapais Monastery, North Cyprus.
Golden Hour for portrait and wedding photographers is a bit like honey to a bee (excuse the cliche). The tones and colours you achieve from the position of the sun can transform your images and it’s something that many photographers chase on a wedding day. Living in the UK means it’s hit or miss most of the time unfortunately and let’s face it, you never really know what the weather will be doing on any given day. But we win when it comes to moody skies and landscapes we win, so it’s not all bad. During a destination couple shoot in the Mediterranean you’re pretty much guaranteed to get that lovely golden light exactly as you need it bang on time every night. Having spent a week in North Cyprus I had a real advantage suggesting where we should go, what direction we should face and exactly what time we need to get to location to get that beautiful Golden Hour light. If only it worked this way in Essex!
Bellapais Monastery, also known as the “Abbey of Peace” is a gorgeous 13th century Monastery boasting some of the best views of Kyrenia and the Mediterranean sea. Surrounded by a small village of cafe’s and restaurants it seemed the perfect location for out Golden Hour couple shoot. We were the last people into the museum which meant we pretty much had the place to ourselves, which doesn’t happen often and that part I couldn’t have predicted. Such a fun shoot with one of the loveliest couples I know.
